this is our home

It's been 40 days since we drove our U-haul into the parking lot of the apartment complex along side our two faithful Toyotas. We drove across the country with our two friends and the four of us unloaded all of Alex and my belongings into our new apartment. This is where we would call our home in California. It was terrifying and exhilarating in the same moment.
It was mid winter last year (2017) when my husband was invited to take this job as full-time ministry worker at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Camarillo, CA and we've been walking on faith since then. I quit my full-time salon job that I loved. We said goodbye to our beloved church family that we'd been attending and serving together since we met and Alex had attended his entire life. We left our families and friends and jumped into this new plan God designed for us. When we were married a year before, we never even thought that this could be our future.
California is so different from Minnesota, but I have had zero regrets. It's amazing how beautiful this move has been, and we can feel that we are exactly where God wants us. Have you ever felt that? To be exactly where God wants you? It's truly amazing!
We still feel like we are settling here. We are getting used to things like, bring your own bags to the grocery store, or make sure to have a sweater at the beach because it can be hot and cold in the same afternoon. And the sun shines every single day without fail (and i love it).
The best thing we've experienced is getting to do life together. Alex and I are a team and this is our journey and our relationship has blossomed in some pretty cool ways. Making new friends together and learning a new job together, being in full-time ministry together, adventuring together. It's made us the best of friends strengthened our marriage and I think that is so, so cool.

It's so beautiful here and the people we've met and become friends with are so amazing! I'm proud to be calling California our new home.
To our MN friends, we can't wait to show you our new home-so come visit :)
till next time
xoxo
